Job Opening/Description. Diesel Repair Technician

Commercial Diesel is looking to hire a Diesel Repair Technician now. Each day will offer a slightly different daily routine, but you will use the same basic skills in the end. You will be required to go out on road calls in a specialized service truck, or you may solely work in a shop environment. Similarly, you will work on a wide range of diesel engines, drive train systems, steering and suspensions systems, braking systems and electrical and electronic systems in buses, trucks, cars and more, or you may specialize in one or more types of systems. Regardless, you must have a keen eye for detail and a knack for following a service manual and diagnostic troubleshooting procedures. You will be expected to inspect, maintain and repair diesel engines of various manufacture, age and condition. This includes tractor trailers, diesel engines and associated systems in construction equipment and a myriad of other vehicles and equipment. You will be required to use diagnostic computer software to aid you in servicing these engines. You will work alongside other diesel technicians/mechanics to ensure the best end results. Some of the most common duties the prospective candidate will be required to perform are:

• Test engine safety and combustion control standards to comply with federal and state vehicle requirements
• Conduct inspections, test drives and diagnostic tests to determine the condition of the vehicles
• Make various adjustments, alignments and repairs to correct any vehicle deficiencies
• Record services and repairs to maintain accurate vehicle records
• Complete preventative maintenance, install part upgrades, winterize vehicles and control corrosion to keep vehicles available
• Follow operating instruction, troubleshoot breakdowns, maintain supplies, perform preventative maintenance and call for repairs to keep shop equipment operational
• Collaborate with coworkers to get repairs done in a timely manner
• Stay up to date on industry advances by reading publication, talking with peers, continuing education and joining industry-related forums

Understands electrical system diagnostics and repair
Understands operation and theory of after treatment systems 
Vocational training in Diesel Mechanics or equivalent experience
3-5 years of experience in related field
Proven knowledge of engine components

Follow instructions
Ability to foster relationships with coworkers and customers an advantage
Ability to work with hands important
Documentation skills is a key advantage in applying for this position

Employment and compensation details:

Flat rate pay scale starting at $30- $45 an hour.
Shop Hours are Monday thru Friday 7:30-4:30. On Call shifts once a month for a week with a $100 compensation for the on call once completed.
5 vacation days after one year 
3 sick days per after six months 
Uniform shirts and two pairs of steel toed boots paid for per year
Service Truck and fuel card for the technician
